The first and only time (so far) that I've seen Marc was in late '99 at the Fenix in Seattle. He was booked for two nights. I saw him the first night and LOVED the show. I skipped the second show to meet up with a date who wasn't interested; to this day, I regret that decision.
I was hoping to see him and Dave Ball on the reunion tour last year. I hurried through cleaning out an apartment I was vacating--accidentally leaving stuff behind--only to find out once I got down to the venue (The Showbox in Seattle) that the tour had been cancelled. Sigh.
One of the things that I particularly liked about Marc's show in '99 was his apparent respect and investment in the music and our love for it. I hope he enjoyed performing it for us; he certainly seemed to be present with it and us.

Re: When Have You Seen Marc?
Sat, February 7, 2004 - 11:21 PMI've been a Marc fan since about 1985. First time I *saw* him in person was when I was 16 and was in London, spent the day hanging around outside the Some Bizzarre office, Marc eventually showed up but was in no mood that day for signing autographs or posing for pictures and just went inside. Not all for nothing tho, I met a lot of v. cool fellow Gutterhearts that day.....flash forward about 14 years, I saw him at the Park West in Chicago....he held my hand biefly while he sang his encore of Say Hello Wave Goodbye, and it was like I was 15 all over again, I could barely keep from crying...glad I went to the show by myself, my friends would never have let me live that down! -

Sun, October 31, 2004 - 8:48 AMUnfortunately I've never seen Marc in person - Soft Cell were supposed to play in SF but cancelled. But a friend of mine worked on "Stranger Things" and got me an autographed cd, isn't that nice?
I think this tribe should be called Gutterhearts :)

Re: When Have You Seen Marc?
Mon, November 1, 2004 - 6:58 AMFortunately while I was living in NYC, I had the privelege of seeing Soft Cell perform in 11/2002 at the Roxy in NYC. Marc said it felt like he was home again. <sigh> Now that I'm in SF, my fellow Marc fans are just bitter. Also, my friend Raymond has many pics of him and Marc together...shall I post them? -

Re: When Have You Seen Marc?
Fri, December 24, 2004 - 11:20 AMI saw Soft Cell at the Palace in LA for thier farewell tour. After the curtian went down I crawled up on stage to peel of Marc's song list from the floor and he came out and touched the top of my head. That song list is on display in the back of the store Retail Slut on Melrose in LA.
I saw Marc in a deathrock nightclub (the word "goth" wasn't being used in the early eighties) in Hollywood, the Fetish Club. Marc was just there hanging out. This club was dark warren of tiny little rooms. I spent a good part of the night trying to track him down to tell him what a big fan I was, which I am sure he was dying to hear. I ended up finding him, but he was on a couch in conversation, so I didn't approach.
I had my copy of The Angle of Death in the Adonis Lounge signed by Marc at a book signing in LA in '89.
I saw Marc perform at the Pantages theatre for the Stars We Are tour. Fabulous show! I had tickets for both nights but sold one pair to a needy fan.
I accidentally got a tattoo in London from some guy who has done some of Marc's work. As I was leaving the shop I saw a pic on the wall of Marc showing off a piece he had done there.
I hung out for a few nights at the Black Cap bar in London, on the off chance Marc would come in. Supposedly it was his favorite bar and in his neighborhood. Alas, no Marc, but I did get laid.
I saw Marc perform at the El Rey theatre during his Open All Night tour. A nice smallish intimate show.
I saw Soft Cell at the Wiltern Theatre in LA for thier reuinion tour. I really was not expecting to enjoy the show, but was blown away by it. The energy was so high!
I have a peice of artwork on the Theatre of Marc Almond gallery page, the Saint Judy painted jacket.
Marc will always be a huge part of my musical life. I recently bot an iPod and have loaded all my Marc Almond music into it. A huge percentage of what I have in my iPod is Marc's music and I play my iPod on random mostly, so I get to hear lots of Marc these days. I think I have fallen into a deeper love for Marc. -
